Biography

Born in Japan 1976, studied ballet with Noriko Seyama, Hideko, Ishizawa, Yoko Ichino, David Nixon. Continued studying at such as North Carolina School of the Arts, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. Danced with Ballet Austin, and several companies in Japan and United States.
In 1999 moved to Europe, studied at Folkwang Art University, in 2000 joined Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, have been created pieces with Pina Bausch and performing her repertoires such as Cafe Müller, and became also as a rehearsal director for Pina Bausch’s repertories.
In 2014 danced for fabien Prioville dance company “Time For Us”. Same year, Choreographed a piece for elder theater company Gold Theater Saitama Japan created by Yukio Ninagawa.
In 2016 joined the project “TRANSMISSION” with Pina Bausch Foundation as a rehearsal director for Bavarian State Ballet to resume a piece by Pina Bausch “Für Die Kinder Von Gestern Heute Und Morgen”, and in 2017 “Cafe Müller” performed by Royal Ballet Flanders.
Performed in the movies a dancer in Pedro Almodovar’s “Talk to
her”(2002). And Wim Wender’s “Pina”(2011).
Teaching workshop in Japan and several countries.
Since 2019 she has taken the position of rehearsal director at Akram Khan dance company.

 

Workshop

A technical class by Azusa Seyama – member of the Pina Bausch Company –
that will be employing various technics such ballet, contemporary and floor work.
Using strong classic ballet technique and introduction the core of the  tanztheater Pina Bausch method, understanding the body mechanic, emphasizing body awareness in space.
Grounding and raising knowledge of the physical possibilities of the body, Encourage finding richer and more meaningful personal movements.
